War destroys lives. A sentence we've heard before yet doesn't stop the senseless murder that occurs each day in some part of the world (Afghanistan ring any bells?). Nations are torn apart by invading countrties, and dissention even occurs amongst themselves through civil war. For thousands of years man has seeked to dominate his foes through the brutal conquest of war. Yet this barbaric act has not died with the centuries. In actual fact its gotten much more brutal than before. Now nations can kill millions at the press of a button. From the comfort of their own chair. What has this world become?
Apart from the horror of war itself, what are survivors to do in the aftermath? Try and rebuild their lives? Yet when your home, family and even some of your limbs have been blasted to kingdom come it gives you little hope. A statue should be erected for all those who have made it through times of war. They are the true heroes.
So far I have talked of the brutality of war and the victims, but not of the soldiers. Are they perpetraitors or victims? The most simple conclusion I can come to is they are neither. They, as patriotic citizens, are fighting for their cause. Yet they may be responsible for the deaths of of soldiers and families of the oppsosing country. If you removed their uniforms could you tell who was who?
